I have a few friends who are older than me who still ride skateboards … I’m pretty confident in saying that neither look at this blog, so I feel like I should mention them … Hell, I’m sure they wouldn’t care if I did mention their names … If I still skateboarded and was mentioned as doing so in a friends’ under-read blog, I would be happy. Oh never mind, it doesn’t really matter who they are … I mention this because even though I am too old to skate, I am still drawn to it … I love watching good skaters skate … Hell, they don’t even need to be that good to grab my attention. Last year in NYC we were up at Columbus Circle and a group of about 10 kids skated up and started shredding a tall curb in the middle of the traffic circle. I shot them for 30 minutes and loved it. Then, just a couple of weeks ago, as i was walking around The Pike area in Long Beach during an Art and Car show, I came upon some kids skating on the sidewalk on Pine Street … I only had time for a couple pictures … I really like one of the pictures …

I thought they might be interested in getting copies of some of the pictures I shot, but even though I gave them my card, no one contacted me for an image. I’m OK with that but I know if I was the kid skating and was offered a free image or 2, I would have taken it … Unless I’m seen as a “weirdo” for talking to the skaters in the first place … Anyway …
