Monday, December 9, 2013 I found out that the Foo Fighters were playing in a pizza parlor in Moorpark, CA. A Monday night rock show is rough, but this was a once in a life time opportunity, so of course we went … Red Bull in my hand, Go Girl in The Weave’s. We were caffeinated and ready for the 70 mile drive.<\/p>\n

I have to be honest and say that the only Foo Fighters music I know, is what I’ve heard on the radio. So I recognized about 5 songs (There Goes My Hero, Monkey Wrench a few others), but holy shit they are a great rock band. They played a 24 song set, that lasted 2 1\/2 hours and just killed it.\"OLYMPUS<\/a><\/p>\n

I found it funny that the people near the front of the stage were pretty polite and saved each other’s spot when one left to go to the bathroom. It was kinda weird … But it made it easier to shoot photos.<\/p>\n

I made a really important discover that night … Not only that the Foo Fighters are pretty awesome … But I loved shooting them with my Olympus OMD so much more than with my Nikon D7000. I had the fisheye on the Nikon and I love rock shots with the fisheye … But in general, the Olympus is smaller, lighter, faster to focus, faster recovery time between shots, in general, just easier to use and more reactive to what I needed it to do that night. I made a second discovery the week prior while shooting Dragon Smoke at the Mint in LA … The Eye Fi memory card that I use is slow. I love that card for the ability to send the imagines via WiFi to my iPad so I can see them and send them quickly if needed … But in general, that card is SLOW and cumbersome! I never thought I would notice that a memory card was fast or slow, but believe me, you can tell. I didn’t use it for the Foos.<\/p>\n

I’m pretty happy with some of the shots from the pizza parlor … In fact, I’m planning to print and send the one below to the owners of the pizza joint as a thank you for the rock show, even though I don’t know them and had nothing to do with it … I just want to, plus it fits in with their decor (and it’s my personal favorite shot of the night).<\/p>\n
