Caffeinate, shoot the Captain!
Friday, September 12, I drank a Red Bull and an iced coffee after work, and went to see Dead Men Walking at Alex’s Bar. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect … This band has members of some amazing bands: Captain Sensible of The Damned, Slim Jim Phantom of The Stray Cats, Mike Peters of The Alarm and Chris Cheney of The Living End … All I knew was that I wanted to go shoot Captain Sensible and that this was a great opportunity.
While they were loading their gear on stage, I went up to the front and just camped out so I would have a good spot to shoot from … I’m happy to say that I camped out right in from of the good Captain and Mr. Phantom all night long … Captain had my camera in his face all night long and was a really good sport about it … Making faces, sticking his tongue out … I tried not to be obnoxious, and don’t think I was, but I basically shot the Captain all night.
The band was great and looked like they were having fun, which made the crowd have fun too. They played each others songs … Like: Damned songs: Smash It Up and Black Out, Alarm song: The Stand, I’m forgetting which Stray Cats songs they did, but for some reason I don’t think it was Stray Cat Strut and they did the hit that the Living End had a few years back, you know the one … OK, I looked it up “Prisoner of Society.” And they played some covers, like “Fight For Your Right To Party” and a few others. It was a fun show.
Here are some of my favorites from that night:
